Supporting students’ first steps in using LinkedIn for job opportunities

  • Scope: Workshop supporting students' first steps in using LinkedIn for job opportunities.
  • Client: Lambeth College

Employability Town meets with Level 2 Early Years Education and Care students at Lambeth College to support their first steps in using LinkedIn for job opportunities.

Lambeth College is one of the largest providers of Further Education in South London with excellent teaching and support and a wide range of courses to suit everyone.

As a strongly Careers-oriented College with the mission of “Wherever you want to be…we’ll get you there”, Lambeth College gives students every opportunity to increase their skills, employability and aspirations by direct engagement with experts from the industry.

This is exactly the principal behind the Industry Week 2016 –  three days for students to get up close and personal with leading practitioners and experts from a variety of business fields.

Employability Town had the pleasure to be one of the invited experts participating in the Industry Week 2016 where we delivered an interactive workshop on using LinkedIn for networking and job hunting.

During the workshop, the group of Level 2 Early Years Education and Care students had the opportunity to explore:

  • Benefits of using LinkedIn
  • The features of a professional profile
  • Four methods of using LinkedIn for Job Hunting
  • Staying safe on LinkedIn

The workshop was packed with practical exercises providing students with a toolkit for using LinkedIn and therefore encouraging and preparing students to take the first step in using LinkedIn for their career planning and progression.
