WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN PACT FOR YOUTH?
Launched by CSR Europe and the European Commission on November 17, 2015 at the Enterprise 2020 Summit, the European Pact for Youth is a mutual engagement of business leaders and the EU to create a culture of business-education partnerships to make learning and teaching more exciting and improve the chances for young people of getting a job.
It brings together representatives for business, education and youth, and the European institutions.
WHAT PRIORITIES DOES THE PACT CONCENTRATE ON?
The network of organizations commits to pursuing the following objectives and actions:
- To boost the number and quality of business-education partnerships for youth employability and inclusion
- To reduce the skills gain
- To contribute to the EU and national policies on skills for competitiveness and employability
WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?
The European Pact for Youth was created by The European Business Network for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR Europe). CSR Europe is the leading European business network for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Through its network of around 50 corporate members and 45 National CSR organisations, it gathers over 10,000 companies, and acts as a platform for those businesses looking to enhance sustainable growth and positively contribute to society.
In its mission to bring the CSR agenda forward, CSR Europe goes beyond European borders and cooperates with CSR organisations in other regions across the world.
WHY DID EMPLOYABILITY TOWN DECIDE TO JOIN THE PACT?
Employability Town as a training provider is dedicated to helping young people develop the soft employability and enterprise skills they need to gain employment. By providing local councils, colleges and charities with workshops, we aim at increasing youth employability and the entrepreneurial mindset of young people.
We strongly believe that we can together with the partner organisations provide young people with an opportunity to learn and acquire skills, knowledge and competencies that they could use throughout their lives in order to participate fully in the development of a prosperous and inclusive society.
WHAT PRIORITIES DO EMPLOYABILITY TOWN CONTRIBUTE TO?
We are very keen to contribute national and European policies, activities and services which aim to encourage the competitiveness and employability of young people in order to achieve higher sustainable growth and more innovation, and take full advantage of the skills and talent available in Europe.
In the last 3 years, Employability Town has boosted the soft employability skills of 3,700 young people through 165 interactive workshops across 16 organisations.
WHY AND HOW TO JOIN THE EUROPEAN PACT FOR YOUTH?
By joining, the organisations will build upon the wealth of resources and capacities available through existing EU programmes, business campaigns and alliances, while engaging at the national, regional and sectoral levels.
